Bridal Shower Cookies

Happy Friday!

It’s been a couple of weeks since my last post.  I’ve been so busy actually making cookies (and working) to be able to post about making cookies.  I’m trying to catch up.  I have a couple batches to post about, but I wanted to start with this one.  This order was just picked up yesterday for a bridal shower this weekend.  It was an order I received after making the bridesmaids cookies that I posted in January.  Very similar order, but different colors.

Since these were cookies that I have done before, I feel like I’m getting  a little better at them.  People have asked me if I get bored making the same types of cookies for multiple orders – definitely not.  I feel like each time I make a certain shape/style of cookie, I improve it in some way.  I learn from the time before.  I either find a more efficient way to do it, or find ways to make it look just a little bit better.  So I like getting the practice.  Plus I’m always trying new things with design.  Keeps it fun!

Happy Valentine’s Day

Happy Valentine’s Day to all my loves out there!  I hope everyone is enjoying their day.  Sadly, I didn’t get to make a ton of cookies for the holiday this year.  I had a minor health issue that held me up earlier in the week, so my time was limited.  Snowmageddon here in Raleigh didn’t help either!  Here are some pics of what I was able to get done last night.  It is for an order for my good friend, Addie.  She wanted to give them as a gift to her new fiancé, Todd 🙂

Birthday Cookies – Part II

I know I posted birthday cookies recently – but it sparked some interest, and I was able to get a little more practice making some last week.  My friend, Melissa, ordered some from me – so I was all for trying them out again.  This time I added in some party hats too.  I decided to change it up a bit with the colors.  I also changed the order that I was icing the parts of the cake with.  With the first batch, I did the cake icing first, thinking it would easiest with the sprinkles.  This time, I frosted the two layers of cake, let those dry for a 1-2 hours, then I added the icing layers between and added the sprinkles. Personally, I think these came out better.  It actually looks like icing dripping down the side of the cakes.  What do you think?

Super Bowl Sunday

I may not be a huge football fan, but Super Bowl Sunday is great for so many other reasons.  One of which is… the food!  Appetizers and desserts – my favorites!  I decided to whip up some football cookies for the occasion and I even threw in a new recipe I just tried for the first time last week.  Salted caramel chocolate chip cookies.  What?!  I know.  Yes, they’re amazing.  Check out the recipe. Very easy to make.  Little tip – do not over-bake.  They may seem a little soft at 10 minutes, but they’ll be fine after they sit on the pan for a couple minutes out of the oven.

I’d also like to point out that, as you can, I finally got some new pans!  Williams Sonoma GoldTouch® Nonstick Cookie Sheets!  I love them.  They were a Christmas gift and they’ve made a big difference in my baking – everything cooks so evenly now.  Nothing sticks to them.  And they cool down so quickly.  Highly recommend.

I hope everyone has a great Super Bowl Sunday!  I can’t say that I care who wins, but I will be watching.  And eating 🙂
