I hope everyone is enjoying the holidays! I have been in Ohio visiting with my family for Christmas, but I still managed to whip up a batch (or 5) of cookies while I was here.
I just wanted to share a quick post of some cookies I made this weekend for New Year’s Eve. I had a couple helpers this time – it was a lot of fun! Thank you to Courtney and Megan (and of course my lil nephews Braden and Jack)!
I am currently working on another batch of another shape/design I’ve never tried before. I have a few orders to get done this week before heading back to my day job. Hopefully I’ll get those posts up soon!
My awesome sister, Courtney, brought my cookies to a cookie exchange with her friends this weekend in my home town of Chagrin Falls, OH. She made such a beautiful display of the cookies, I wanted to share and to also say THANK YOU so much to her and to everyone for the kind words. So glad you enjoyed them!
So today was our Secret Santa gift exchange at work. You know I was hoping I would get someone who likes sugar cookies. I got double lucky – not only did I get someone who likes sugar cookies, but he’s a big fan of Disney, so I got to try out some new cookies! I have to admit, I struggled a bit on the first couple cookies. Luckily, when you screw up a cookie, the worst thing that happens is you get to eat an ugly cookie and try again. Destroy the evidence 😉
I decided to try out a real Mickey Mouse face on a few and go for some Christmas-themed Mickeys as well. I hope you like them!
I have been a busy lil baker this past weekend! Thanks to all my awesome family and friends, I’ve actually had quite a few orders of Christmas cookies to fill! I tried to get all my long-distance orders done over the weekend, but I still have plenty of local orders to complete as well later this week. I’m loving it!
I even picked up some new cookie cutters and got to try out some new shapes. If you guys know of any other cool ones you’ve seen that I haven’t posted here, feel free to send me a message. I’m always willing and looking to try something new :). The newbies to my collection right now are the reindeer, santa faces, and the snowmen. I also changed up a bit on the ornaments and made some of them look like santa belts.
My first long-distance shipment – headed to Wisconsin!
I made another 2 batches of dough last night, so I’m ready to get going on round #3! I have another idea or two up my sleeve for some other cookies, so you may still see another post or two from me before Christmas is over. Until then, I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season with their loved ones!
PS – I just got an order for New Years Eve cookies! I’m excited 🙂 🙂 🙂
Tis the season! My baking has shifted into high gear for the holidays. The cookie nerd inside of me could not be happier 🙂
I stocked up on a few supplies last night….
Here’s a small sample of some I whipped this week…
I’ve been very flattered by the requests I’ve had from friends and family lately for orders of Christmas cookies lately. Thank you all so much for your support. I am sure I will post more Christmas pics before the month is over. This is also the time of year I get to make my very favorite – GINGERBREAD! Maybe this weekend? Stay tuned – lots more to come!
This batch will look a little familiar – considering I used a picture of them as the background for this blog when it was originally launched. I actually made these cookies a couple years ago, but they are still one of my favorite batches to date. (I probably say that a lot.) But these were rather unique. A friend of mine approached me about making a custom batch of cookies for a baby shower she was attending for a coworker.
She sent me links to the bedding that the mom-to-be had registered for and asked if I could use the colors and at least one of the shapes in there as a guide. Here are the pics I was given:
I knew the colors would be pretty easy to match, and narrowed the shapes down to the leaf, the owl, and the frog. I got really lucky and happened to find an owl cookie cutter that was very similar to the owl in the bedding. I have to be honest though, I didn’t have a lot of confidence that I’d be able to make them look like the owl on those sheets. Fingers were crossed big time on these…
Side note: I’ve learned a few random things since starting this blog and posting these pics:
I desperately need new cookie sheets – mine are looking pretty sad
My photography skills are lacking (but you get the point)
Like I was saying – I’m a horrible photographer, but this one makes me laugh so I had to post it. I love how every owl looks he’s looking in a different direction. Kinda creepy.
Special thanks to Lindsey for the order for these cookies!
Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving! I will be working on Christmas cookies very soon, but I have some other ideas in the mix for this month as well. Suggestions always welcome!
